igus to Exhibit at the Offshore Technology Conference

POSTED 03/20/2012

igus® Inc. will be exhibiting at booth 8653 during the forthcoming Offshore Technology Conference (OTC).  The show will be located at the Reliant Arena in Houston and run from April 30-May 5, 2012.

Products on show will include “E4-350”, igus’ largest-ever plastic drag chain, “System E4/4”, a robust drag chain for unsupported, side-mounted applications, and various Chainflex® continuous flex cables, which are optimized for use inside Energy Chain® drag chains.

Plastic drag chains can replace steel in most offshore applications, including BOP transfer carts and cranes, pipe-handling systems, iron roughnecks, load arms, and gantry systems.  igus’ line of Energy Chain drag chains are corrosion-resistant and unaffected by UV-rays, dirt, chemicals, extreme temperatures, or seawater.

E4-350 was primarily developed for demanding applications exposed to oil and drilling mud in applications on offshore oil-drilling platforms.  E4.350 can move nearly 50 feet up and down, which guarantees any heavy hydraulic cables are protected and guided when a drilling rig is skidded onto an oil platform, or during a drilling head’s stroke.

System E4/4 is an ideal alternative to festoon and cable-reel systems used on cranes.  These drag chains can travel up to 2,600 feet even with heavy loads and prevent external forces from causing cables to whip, swing or tangle.

Chainflex continuous flex data cables are ideal for offshore applications and conform to UL, CSA, CE, and DESINA guidelines.  They can be used in applications involving high speeds and accelerations.  igus also offers custom cable solutions, which are designed according to the customer’s specifications.
