A successful start for Stäubli’s biggest robot
POSTED 08/14/2024
Stäubli’s TX2-200 made its world premiere at Automatica in Munich. Since then, the high-performance six-axis robot has been used in specialized applications spanning many industries – and feedback from the market and from Stäubli partners has been consistently positive.
"We are delighted that the TX2-200 meets user and partner expectations in a wide range of applications. As was initially the case in standard applications, the robot in HE and Stericlean versions now also satisfies in hygiene-sensitive applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries," says Rudolf M. Weiss, Global Head of Life Sciences & Food.
This success is not surprising since the TX2-200 builds on the technical foundation of its proven predecessor, the TX200. And while this robot was already best in class, the new generation offers further improvements in nearly all areas. For example, compared to its predecessor, the load capacity of the TX2-200 increased by over 30 percent, from 130 to 170 kg. In the long arm version, the increase is nearly 40 percent, from 80 to 110 kg. The reach in the standard version is 2,209 mm, and 2,609 mm with the long arm.
State-of-the-art safety features
Another special feature of the robot is its updated safety technology. The TX2-200 is equipped with the latest safety features, which meet the strict requirements of safety category SIL 3/PL e and thus guarantee the highest level of safety. This makes them safe to use in various levels of human-robot collaboration with no need for work areas separated by protective fences. This allows manufacturers to realize highly efficient production concepts without restrictions.
More sustainable and efficient than ever
The TX2-200 also outshines its predecessor in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency. The developers succeeded in reducing the energy consumption of the large six-axis robot by 10 percent during operation and up to 40 percent in standby mode. This puts the TX2-200 in a league of its own since the potential savings compared to robots from other manufacturers are even more significant. With this best-in-class energy consumption, annual cost savings can range between EUR 1,500 and 5,750, depending on the comparative model, which corresponds to a CO2 reduction of 3 to 13 tons.

There are also many other improvements, from the robot’s hygienic design, drive technology, sealing, safety technology, and the materials used to the controller, which is now 40 percent smaller. Pioneering hygienic design, safety features, and mechanical qualities make this robot a real multitasker that can impress in environmental conditions ranging from harsh to super clean.
"With this robot, we can further broaden our technological lead. Thanks to its advanced safety features, hygienic design and mechanical qualities, the six-axis robot is a highly flexible guarantee of productivity in both traditional and digitally networked environments," emphasizes Rudolf M. Weiss.

•Compared to its predecessor, the payload of the TX2-200 has increased by more than 30 percent - from 130 to now 170 kg. In the long-arm version, even by just under 40 percent - from 80 to 110 kg.
•With the TX2-200, your operating costs will be optimized, among other things, through faster cleaning processes. The robots have a high chemical compatibility for cleaning products and process areas - now with pH values ranging from 2 to 12.
•The HE series from Stäubli are specifically adapted to production environments with high humidity and splash water.
