Robotics Raises: Westmag, 10Beauty, Mecka AI, Slamcore and Atom

We’re back with another round of startup fundraises for the week of 6/1. This time we’ve got a startup building software that helps robots with spatial awareness, a company that builds a robotic manicure machine, and another that collects human data for robot training.
We’ve got all the funding rounds you should be paying attention to from Japan, London, Canada, and, of course, Silicon Valley, all in one place.
10Beauty, $23.5 million
Repetitive work means more than industrial settings. Heck, sometimes it's at the salon. 10Beauty builds robots that give consumers a complete manicure within one device. The Burlington, Massachusetts-based company just raised a $23.5 million venture funding round led by Story Ventures.
Alexander Shashou, the co-CEO of Beauty10, told A3 that the company has 850 signed locations for the machines and plans to use the funds to continue developing the tech. Demand has been strong, Shashou said, and added that people like these machines because they give a consistent manicure, which if you get your nails done by a human, you know can be hard to find.
Atom, ¥3 billion ($18 million), Seed

Japanese humanoid company, Atom, has the goal of “creating a new species.” Well, alright then. The startup, which was founded in 2025, just raised a ¥3 billion ($18 million) seed round that was co-led by JAFCO, Beyond Next Ventures and ANRI.
The global humanoid market already feels sprawling but Atom looks to stand out from the crowd by being one of the only players building in Japan. The company has ambitious goals for its potential effect on its domestic market too, with plans for its bots to increase Japan’s GDP by 1%.
Mecka AI, $60 million, Series A

Another week, another startup looking to help companies access human-generated data for robotics training. Mecka AI has gathered a database of real-world footage from sources like iPhones and body cameras and sells it to robotics companies. The Canadian startup just announced a $60 million Series A round that was led by Framework Ventures in addition to a previously undisclosed 2025 seed round led by Neo.

The company declined to share any of its customers when asked by Fortune. Human Archive, another company focused on gathering this same egocentric data, has also declined to share who it partners with. I have a feeling these questions won’t go away anytime soon.
SLAMcore, $14 million

Vision is essential for robot safety, especially in environments with humans. SLAMcore is building the embedded software that helps machines do just that by combining information from all of a robot’s sensors to help it understand its surroundings. The British startup just secured a $14 million venture round led by ROKStar Ventures.
“Industrial sites are no longer willing to accept blind spots in their operations or preventable forklift incidents, and the realisation that there's now a practical solution to both is spreading fast,” CEO Owen Nicholson told A3.
Westmag, $11 million, Seed
Actuators, which convert energy into movement, are a critical piece of hardware for robots and beyond. The market for these parts is concentrated and dominated by producers in China. As the U.S. tech industry pushes toward domestic manufacturing, Westmag is bringing actuator production stateside.
Westmag is a one-year-old startup building actuators in the U.S. The company, which also builds drone engines, just announced a $11 million seed round that was closed late last year. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from Menlo Ventures, Founders Fund and Lux Capital, among others.
