Attabotics Files for Bankruptcy

Reports of Attabotics’ bankruptcy began circulating on social media last week, as employees announced their termination from the Calgary-based warehouse automation firm. A printout confirming that the company was filed paperwork under Canada’s Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
According to a recent interview with supply chain consultant, Brittain Ladd, CEO Scott Gravelle confirmed 190 layoffs. The Calgary Herald obtained a note to Attabotics’ staff announcing, “Unless you have been spoken to directly about alternate arrangements to maintain your employment, this means that your employment will terminate effective June 30, 2025.”
As of today, impacted employees are no longer allowed at the company’s manufacturing facility located near the city’s international airport.
“I am devastated that Attabotics customers, suppliers, integration partners, and many other people are being harmed,” Gravelle said. "I never took money out of Attabotics. I don't have millions of dollars. I lost my job to,o and I don't know what I will do next.”
The executive, who founded the a decade ago, also updated his bio LinkedIn to read, “Recovering visionary. Taking a long deserved break.”
The news comes shortly after Attabotics announced a deal with Tesco. It’s not clear how the move will impact the agreement, though the U.K. grocery giant could, perhaps, look to acquire the firm’s IP.
