Sensor to Image is a machine vision specialist who develops and sells GenICam-compliant interface FPGA cores and supplies GigE Vision, CoaXPress and USB3 Vision cores worldwide. The company has been building its renowned know-how in modular PC image processing cards for industrial purposes since 1989. Its journey started with Snofru and Giseh cards allowing PC independent evaluation of a camera signal. Nowadays, the company has walked a long way and developed a strong FPGA expertise, certified by AIA and JIIA. Sensor to image is a major supplier of IP Cores for the FPGA vendors Intel /Altera, Lattice and Xilinx. Sensor to Image has supplied more than 100 customers around the world in automotive-, industrial-, medical-, security-, military- and space-applications. Euresys acquired Sensor to Image in 2017 to build a bigger group for a broader range of applications and services with the joint knowledge of the existing teams.

The Sensor to Image GigE FPGA Core for ALTERA and XILINX FPGA is a solution for camera designers of machine vision components to make use of the proven GigE Vision protocol without the need of implementing this protocol from scratch or to buy third party GigE hardware modules. So the designer is able to focus his work on the device functionality not on connectivity. This core implements the GEV Control Channel software based in an embedded CPU, without the GEV streaming. This architecture ensures best performance, but also easy adaption to custom vision hardware. Together with a MAC unit, a full solution can be supplied. Several reference designs for typical passive GEV 1.2 as 2.1 DEVICES like light controller or IEE1588 IO DEVICE are available and demonstrate the usage of the core.They can be by PacketResend and Action implemented in hardware. Supported platforms are ALTERA/INTEL and XILINX FPGAs.
