Indexing Actuators

Indexing Actuators provide unidirectional rotation in fixed precise steps to hard stops within + or – 0.2 degrees. These actuators also prevent backward rotation and feature no accumulating error. All Rotomation indexing actuators feature black-anodized aluminum bodies, precision-ground carbon steel shafts, ball bearings, and stainless steel hardware.

How They Work

Common Options: preloaded shaft notch, various shafts types, two rotation directions, bumper on reset stroke, integrated flow control or cushion valve, magnetic switches for actuator state feedback, high-temperature and/or oil-service seals, mount plates, extended pawl shaft for alternate state feedback (use with flag and proximity sensor), accurate keyway reference point location, and various port locations.

Extended Pawl Shaft

Standard rotation angles: 12° (30 steps/rev.), 15° (24 steps/rev.), 18° (20 steps/rev.), 22.5° (16 steps/rev.), 30° (12 steps/rev.), 36° (10 steps/rev.), 45° (8 steps/rev.), 60° (6 steps/rev.), 72° (5 steps/rev.), 90° (4 steps/rev.), 120° (3 steps/rev.), 180° (2 steps/rev.), and 360° (1 step/rev.). Combination of angles also possible as long as they add up to 360 degrees total.

Single Rack Indexing Actuators

Tie rod construction offers maximum configurability and durability, and are fully rebuildable. Single rack actuators are designed for general applications where reliability and durability are important

Dual Rack Indexing Actuators

Dual rack actuators have the same features and benefits of their single rack counterparts, with the additional advantage of double the torque output for any given input pressure, without increasing the footprint of the actuator.
