ULTRALIGHT - Bellows Safety Coupling for Torque Overload Protection

R+W model SL2 torque limiters use the ball-detent principle to mechanically disconnect driving and driven equipment in the event of torque overload resulting from machine jams, collisions and other malfunctions. They are a more reliable means of torque overload protection than simply limiting motor current in the drive because they react to inertial loads and power that has already been delivered to the mechanical system, rather than simply limiting the delivery of more energy. The 3-5 millisecond reaction time means they are the fastest means of torque overload protection available, and the automatic re-engagement after the overload has passed makes them more like a mechanical circuit breaker than a fuse, saving operators and technicians time. Configured with compact bellows couplings, the SL2 offers dynamic precision motion transfer while releiving side loading from shaft misalignment, and while adding minimal inertia to the system. Available with disengagement torques ranging from 10 to 400 Nm and connecting shaft sizes ranging from 12 to 60mm, the SL2 offers the best in torque overload protection for servo driven axes.
