The LightWELD Cobot System from IPG Photonics is a collaborative robot laser welding solution designed to automate repetitive welding tasks while maintaining the flexibility required in modern fabrication environments.
The system combines proven LightWELD fiber laser technology with an easy-to-program collaborative robot to deliver high-quality, repeatable welding with minimal operator training. Operators can quickly teach weld paths using manual guidance, allowing new jobs to be programmed in minutes without traditional robot programming experience.
Designed for high-mix, low-volume manufacturing, the LightWELD Cobot System helps fabricators automate repetitive welds, improve productivity, and free skilled welders to focus on complex fabrication work.
The system integrates the LightWELD laser source, collaborative robot arm, system controls, and a compact worktable into a turnkey automation platform that can be deployed quickly on the shop floor.
In addition to laser welding, the system can switch to laser cleaning in seconds by changing nozzle tips and selecting the appropriate mode, enabling surface preparation or post-weld cleaning within the same system.
