Memorial Service Set for Adil Shafi, Industry Leader

g width="300" vspace="15" hspace="15" height="188" border="0" align="right" alt="Adil Shafi" src="/userAssets/riaUploads/image/Adil_ICVGR.jpg" />Adil Shafi, who has been a robotics and vision industry leader for more than two decades, died on April 4, 2014. He was a past member of the Board of Directors of AIA, a key contributor to AIA and Robotic Industries Association (RIA) activities such as the International Conference on Vision Guided Robotics (ICVGR) and the main presenter on RIA’s webinar series.

“I’ve known Adil for 20 years and have always enjoyed working with him in promoting the use of robotics and vision technologies,” said Jeff Burnstein, President, Association for Advancing Automation, parent group of AIA, RIA, and MCA. “He was always knowledgeable, passionate, and helpful. His passing is a great loss to our industry and trade groups. Our thoughts and prayers are with Adil’s wife and family during this very sad time.”

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 11 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 2201 S. Old US Highway 23, Brighton, Michigan 48114. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 am, with mass starting at 11:00 am and a church luncheon to follow.
