Imagine trying to find a tiny scratch on a shiny blue piece of plastic. It’s really hard for a human to see! If a battery has a bubble under its skin or if it’s just a tiny bit too tall, it won't fit into its spot in a car or a computer. This causes a big problem for the people making them.

To solve this, engineer created a sensor called the SR7140 3D laser profiler. You can think of it as a super-powered camera that doesn't just take pictures—it sees in 3D!

Here is how it works:

The Laser Line: It shines a thin line of light across the battery.

The 3D Map: By looking at how that light bends, the sensor creates a map of the battery’s surface. It can "feel" a bump that is thinner than a piece of hair!

Double Checking: It checks the battery twice. First, it looks at the bare metal to find dents. Then, it looks at the blue wrap to find bubbles or wrinkles.

Because this "super-eye" is so fast, it can check thousands of batteries every hour. It even measures how tall and wide the battery is to make sure it's the exact right size. If a battery has a tiny mistake, the machine finds it instantly and moves it to the side so only the perfect ones get sent to the store.
