C&M Names Ben Smith & Dave Van Damme Shareholders

Southfield, Mich.—September 16, 2021— Clayton & McKervey, a certified public accounting and business advisory firm helping growth-driven companies compete in the global marketplace, has promoted Senior Managers Ben Smith and Dave Van Damme to Shareholders, effective September 1, 2021. The announcement was made by Clayton & McKervey President Rob Dutkiewicz.
As new members of the now 12-member ownership team, Smith and Van Damme will have the opportunity to expand their impact on the firm; building teams and practices which support their industry expertise, technical skills and passion.
Ben Smith, CPA, ABV leads the firm’s growing consulting practice, providing strategic guidance to business owners in the areas of transaction services and digital advisory services. Ben specializes in buy and sell-side financial and tax due diligence, Quality of Earnings, working capital analysis and data analytics. He also leads the firm’s own technology initiatives. Ben has been with the firm since 2007, starting as an intern before moving to the group’s Small and Mid-Sized Entities group. The Royal Oak resident received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Oakland University. He serves on the membership committee for the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG).
Dave Van Damme, CPA, CFE is core to the firm’s advisory & assurance team. Joining the firm in 2008, he works closely with owners, CFOs and plant managers to understand his clients’ business goals and align the right mix of technological and consulting support. Dave also helps business owners prepare accurate financial statements, identify key metrics to help achieve operational success and determine which business processes could benefit from automation. As a certified fraud examiner, he helps clients become better educated on the best practices to help prevent fraud. This Ferndale resident received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Oakland University.
