New product development initiatives yields returns and builds momentum
UXBRIDGE, MA – Lenze today announced an almost four percent increase in sales for FY14 (year ending April 30, 2014). Lenze sales in all regions increased to an aggregate of $772.5 million USD. Building on the momentum of a successful corporate positioning as the global specialist for innovative drive and automation solutions—referred to as Motion Centric Automation—Lenze is using the stimulus from emerging markets and select focus industries for sustained positive growth. Despite recent economic challenges within the industry, Lenze boosted profitability by a significant 45 percent margin in FY14.
“Our investments, outstanding portfolio, and ideas for new ways to help customers, coupled with the extensive expertise, motivation and flexibility of our employees, provide a solid foundation for global expansion,” said Christian Wendler, chief executive officer, Lenze SE. “While we increased business volume in all regions, we also built a strong market position in industrialized countries, as well as in Turkey, a hub for the Middle East, and in emerging markets, with a growing presence in China, India and Brazil.”
Wendler emphasizes the outstanding work of employees as a key factor in Lenze’s successful expansion into international markets. “Our employees develop new innovations, implement ideas, and sell to the market. They are accessible to customers all over the world. We will continue to develop the potential of Lenze employees in order to be even more successful in innovation-driven growth markets globally.”
In FY2014 Lenze received accolades as a “Top Employer for Engineers” by the Top Employers Institute and a “Top National Employer” by the German news magazine Focus. At year end, Lenze had 3,353 employees, a year over year increase of 2%. In order to attract and retain talent, Lenze maintains a family-oriented personnel policy. The key pillars are compatibility of family and career, work-based health management, training and further-training courses, and a flexible work environment, while taking into account market demands and customer needs.
Globalization and a constant stream of innovation in robotics and emerging technologies related to the Internet of Things are all driving forces for Lenze’s customer base, especially in consumer goods, intralogistics and automotive industries. A strong market orientation and focus on developing new innovations for machine builders are crucial to Lenze capturing new markets and sustaining growth in established markets. “Our drive and automation solutions provide customers with genuine added value. One example is the combination of our Lenze Smart Motor and the new g500 range of gearboxes, which makes it easier for a machine builder to manufacture a powerful, efficient machine,” explains Wendler. “Lenze shows customers new ways forward, enabling them to standardize design concepts, increase machine reliability, and precisely design high performance systems.”
Within the U.S. Lenze plans to continue leveraging key strengths to capitalize on opportunities arising from revitalizing industrialization trends. “Through investments in sites, production capacities, and our international engineering capabilities, we know what’s important to our customers. It is because we know and can provide precisely what they need that Lenze continues to grow,” according to Wendler.
