New Sustainable Manufacturing Website from Bosch Rexroth Features Green Machine Automation Technolog
(Hoffman Estates, IL – www.boschrexroth-us.com) – Bosch Rexroth, the drive and control company, has launched a new website to provide information on its sustainable manufacturing technology resources and to help encourage innovation among manufacturers, OEMs, machine builders, system integrators and engineers. Visitors can access the new website at www.boschrexroth-us.com/sustainable.
The site features descriptions of key products and systems Bosch Rexroth has developed to encourage use of alternative energy sources, such as its hydrostatic regenerative braking systems (HRB). Visitors can read how Rexroth’s HRB can increase fuel efficiency up to 25 percent by using hydraulics to store vehicular brake energy and then release that energy to help the vehicle accelerate.
The new site also provides links to case histories describing how Rexroth technology helps machine builders and manufacturers reduce waste, improve sustainability, use renewable resources and conserve energy.
“As an engineer myself, I am convinced that the sustainable manufacturing of the future will be designed, implemented, and produced by engineers,” said Berend Bracht, president and chief executive officer of Bosch Rexroth in North America. “Working together, we can use machine and automation technology to conserve energy, reduce waste, eliminate pollution and manufacture products in a sustainable way. Our new website shows many examples of how this can be done.”

Bracht said Bosch Rexroth will also use the site to announce important industry initiatives to help improve the environment and drive the development of sustainable manufacturing solutions. For example, the company recently announced that it is participating in the Chicago Climate Exchange® (CCX®), the world’s first and North America’s only voluntary, legally binding greenhouse gas emissions reduction, registry and trading program. The company is participating with CCX through its parent organization, the Bosch Group.
Bracht said Bosch Rexroth has long been committed to developing energy-efficient products and technologies used in the renewable and clean energy space. “Rexroth’s electric, hydraulic, pneumatic and linear motion and assembly products are used in areas ranging from wind energy, trash-to-energy and solar power production, to energy reduction and efficiency improvement programs on the factory floor,” he said. “Our new website brings all this together in one central area focused on sustainable manufacturing technology.”
Bosch Rexroth AG, part of the Bosch Group, achieved sales of approximately $7.4 billion (5.4 billion Euros) in 2007 with nearly 33,000 employees. Under the brand name of Rexroth the company offers all drive and control technologies, from mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics to electronics and associated service. Over 500,000 customers worldwide utilize Rexroth’s unique technological know-how to implement their innovative and future-oriented systems and machine concepts.
