Lenze Introduces FAST Winder Technology Module

POSTED 11/17/2014

Machine Programming Made Easy with Lenze FAST Winder Technology Module

Modular software application template enables quick and reliable development of winding applications

Lenze FAST Winder Technology ModuleLenze has packaged a full scope of winding automation control features into a FAST Winder Technology Module now available for machine building and programming.  Designed for modular programming with Lenze FAST Application Software, the new winding application template provides a basic programming framework featuring error-handling, prepared communication interfaces and machine-specific winding functionality.

“Software is becoming increasingly important whether building or buying a machine,” states Craig Dahlquist, automation team supervisor, Lenze. “When design engineers are faced with the task of modularizing, implementing and updating application software, Lenze FAST provides the right programming tools they need to make machine control and automation easy.”

Specializing in motion centric automation, Lenze offers a range of FAST technology modules that incorporate knowledge gained over many decades of industry experience.  Providing machine programmers with a standardized function block, the Winder Technology Module is easily integrated, without manually entering PLCopen modules into the program code.  Many machine electronic and mechanical structures are already modularized, while most application software lags behind which adds time and complexity to machine software engineering.  Lenze technology modules provide a flexible and uniform programming structure to reduce and streamline machine control engineering.

Lenze FAST Technology Modules incorporate multiple basic drive tasks, including feeding, unwinding, cross cutting/sealing and conveying.  Winding and unwinding are commonly required machine tasks.  The FAST Winder Technology Module enables manual jogging, homing, and positioning, among other standard drive functions.  Since every material and winding process is unique, Lenze offers various module extensions to meet different winding drive requirements, such as sensor, dancer, tension and traction control.

“FAST Technology Modules are precisely tailored to match the needs of our customers and appropriately scaled for basic, extensive or complex machine tasks.  The drive can be operated immediately after integrating the technology and initiating motions,” adds Dahlquist.

The Lenze FAST Winder Technology Module was developed in accordance with standard IEC 61131 for programmable controllers and the OMAC PackML packaging industry standard.
