Lenze Americas Welcomes Boston Chapter of the SMTA
Lenze Hosts Uxbridge plant tour, corporate and technical presentations about improving productivity and competitiveness of US manufacturing sector.
UXBRIDGE, MA - Lenze, a global manufacturer of electrical and mechanical drives, motion control and automation technology, hosted the SMTA (Surface Mount Technology Association) Boston Chapter’s monthly meeting on January 12, 2016. More than 60 SMTA members attended the event titled, Improving Productivity to Make Manufacturing Work in the USA: Case Study of the Key Steps Taken by Lenze Americas to Improve Productivity, Improve Quality, and Reduce Cycle Time.
The non-profit organization SMTA advances the electronics industry through member education and interaction. Ranging from students to seasoned professionals, members help one another and contribute to the SMTA pool of knowledge.

Focused on lean manufacturing and how companies can maintain competitiveness in a global market, the meeting agenda consisted of networking and a corporate overview, plant tour and technical presentations, and dinner and Q&A with Lenze representatives. Corporate and technical presentation topics included Plant Layout Redesign, Project Motivation and Due Diligence, Workforce Training, Project Planning and Implementation, and LPS (Lenze Production System) Initiatives—highlighting Shop Floor Management and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), SMT Defect Reduction, ROI (Return on Investment) Models, Factory Metrics and Lean at Home.
