HG Automation developed a robust automated assembly system designed to support multiple piston assembly variants across two engine families. The system delivers fully assembled pistons including cylinder liners directly to the customer’s engine block assembly line through an on-demand one-piece flow production strategy.

Operating at a 25-second cycle time, the solution utilizes palletized conveyance with RFID tracking to ensure complete product traceability and variant control throughout the process. Key assembly operations include precision servo pressing, piston ring singulation and insertion, and multiple vision inspection stations to verify assembly quality and component presence.
