Can you suggest a book or articles for those with no technical that explains how computer vision systems work?

Hi Ruth,

Thanks for the question. Here is a resource from a company that is one of the leaders in the production of machine vision cameras and software:

https://www.cognex.com/what-is/machine-vision

There is a lot of related material and examples of applications. I hope this is helpful.

Thanks,

Can you tell me how to eliminate modification of ambiental light on my camera image acquisition? I have a B&W cognex camera with integrated red led light and I want to find a simple area of a black blob, but ambiental light is changing and my blob is changing his brightness.

As Brian @ I4 Solutions has mentioned, adding a band-pass filter with the camera to make the wavelength of the light out is the most cost effective solution.

Hi, I'm researching different machine vision solutions for industrial QA (defect detection). Where can I find a list of the major and minor solutions providers offering machine vision solutions for defect detection? Thanks!

Hello Michael,

I am with Metaphase Lighting. For Israel, our distributor 1vision would be a great partner to work with. They are very experienced with all aspects of a successful machine vision system. Everything from cameras, software, contacts with integrators, and the most important part, lighting :).

Feel free to reach to them. [email protected] Tel: +972 9 9507712 www.1vision.co.il

I am looking for a system that would inventory similar wooden products and identify them according to distinguishing features - such as wood grain. Any products out there that would work on this scale?

Jana, for the illumination part of this application, its key to have good diffused lighting. When looking at the grains, you tend to identify the grains by contrast in colors. Your going to need an illumination system that helps produce good color rendering. On deployed systems that sound very similar to your application, we have use 2 different diffused light sources.

For Area Scan, a dome light would be best to give you accurate colors. Since you are looking at wood, that tends to be more rectangular rather then circular, our elongated dome (Diffused Tube) would work best.

If you were to go the line scan route, we offer the same type of solution in a high power compact form factor. This works great for the more narrow field of view with a line scan camera. https://www.metaphase-tech.com/line_lights_line_scan/compact_diffused_tube_line_light/high_power_compact_diffused_tube_line_light
