June 1, 2016, is the day the Integral Horsepower Amended Rule goes into effect in the United States. It may be targeted at AC induction motors rather than permanent-magnet DC motors but it is poised to have a broad effect across industry. Induction motors are applied throughout manufacturing. Even machines that depend on motion control for their primary function use induction motors to power pneumatics or fans or vacuum chucks. The new regulations affect form, fit, and function and might introduce issues for OEMs. They also potentially offer opportunities for alternative motor technologies, including permanent-magnet motors. Attend this webinar and get a briefing on the details, new technologies, and additional regulations under development in the next decade.
