Adimec showcases camera innovations at The Vision Show 2012

POSTED 04/27/2012

rong>High-resolution combined with high-speed cameras to increase accuracy and throughput of inspection and metrology systems

BOSTON, Mass. – Adimec, a world leader in application-specific, leading-edge industrial camera solutions, will showcase its portfolio of machine vision products and technology at the 2012 edition of The Vision Show event in Boston, MA, held May 8- 10.  The company will display and discuss enhancements to its latest CMOS-based QUARTZ family, as well as ultra high-resolution capabilities.

These latest developments to the QUARTZ series include:
  • Reduced power consumption by about 2.5W
  • More efficient implementation of the dual CoaXPress interface
  • Improved frame-to-frame stability by a factor of 2.5
  • Higher resolution options including 12 MP and greater
QUARTZ Q-4A180/CXP:  4 Megapixel, 180 full fps available now
The Quartz Q-4A180/CXP area scan camera was the industry’s first camera to support a dual CoaXPress interface. This camera delivers the performance and cost benefits of the CoaXPress standard, and combines proven global shutter CMOS technology with the proprietary Adimec True Accurate Imaging® approach. This results in CCD-like image quality with unmatched speed. The Q-4A180/CXP transmits 180 frames per second (FPS) at a 2048 x 2048 resolution with 10 bits per pixel over two standard coaxial cables with lengths over 60 meters without repeaters.  The latest generation of this camera series now offers even lower power consumption and better frame-to-frame stability.

More and more system developers are interested in the advantages of CoaXPress to reduce costs, enable more connectivity flexibility, and achieve higher transmission rates over long distances, all at the same time. Traditionally Camera Link has been the preferred interface option for high-speed cameras, though the high costs of rigid cabling and limitations in data rates have driven the industry to new approaches.

The dual CoaXPress interface of the Q-4A180/CXP camera supports the CXP-5 configuration of the standard. It utilizes two standard coaxial cables, each with a maximum transmission rate of 5 Gbps over 60 meters.  The costs of these cables are one-tenth of a single Camera Link cable, while enabling far greater transmission length without the additional expense of repeaters or extenders. The CoaXPress standard also supports power over cable, reducing the need for a separate power connection.

Ultra high-resolution camera capabilities
A continuous requirement to meet ever increasing metrology and inspection accuracy and throughput demands involves higher resolution cameras with high speeds.  Adimec will also demonstrate ultra high-resolution camera options and capabilities in Booth #401 on the exhibition floor.
