Adimec Highlights Camera Innovations to Japanese Market at ITE 2010

POSTED 12/06/2010

rong>CMOS-based QUARTZ series shows state-of-the-art solutions now available;
OPAL series demonstrates 8-megapixel version, production ready CoaXPress implementation

Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Adimec, a world leader in application-specific, leading-edge industrial camera solutions, will showcase its latest high-end camera innovations at the premier machine vision trade fair in Japan,ITE 2010 in Yokohama, Japan (8 - 10 December, 2010). Among the highlights of Adimec’s demonstrations and participation are:

  • 4-megapixel global shutter CMOS-based camera, the QUARTZ Q-4A180, already with successful design ins at several customers
  • New Near Infrared (NIR) version of the QUARTZ family
  • The industry’s first production-ready cameras using the new CoaXPress standard, the OPAL series, consisting of 1 to 8-megapixel versions
  • 12-megapixel global shutter CMOS-based camera, Q-12A60 (exhibited at our booth).
  • An update from Adimec Chief Scientist and Chairman of the CoaXPress Consortium Jochem Herrmann on the status of the high speed digital interface standard. The JIIA CoaXPress standard V1.0 is scheduled to be released during the show
Adimec will be located in Booth 40 at the Pacifico Yokohama.

Mr. Herrmann’s presentation on CoaXPress will be on 10 December at 13:00 at hall F203.

Quartz: High-speed CMOS imaging with no compromises available now

Adimec will demonstrate the latest versions of its Quartz Q-4A180 cameras, one with and one without extra NIR sensitivity. These cameras combine global shutter CMOS technology (CMOSIS CMV4000) with Adimec’s proprietary True Accurate Imaging™ for unmatched speed, accuracy and consistency comparable to CCD-based solutions. The QUARTZ series provides the highest acquisition speed by combining high frame rate sensor technology with high data rate connectivity. The camera features up to 180 frames per second (FPS) performance, large field of view (FOV) with excellent uniformity, 2048 x 2048 resolution and low noise performance, making it the most advanced CMOS camera available for performance-critical applications.

The new NIR-capable QUARTZ camera uses a leading-edge CMOS image sensor from CMOSIS that delivers NIR sensitivity in a high-performance, low noise solution. Compared to the standard Q-4A180, the NIR enhanced version significantly increases the sensitivity above 650nm. NIR is an important element in the move from 2D to 3D inspection technology, and has applications in other visibility-constrained product areas such as outdoor imaging as well.

Adimec will also discuss its roadmap to offer 8- and 12-megapixel versions of the QUARTZ product line, scheduled to be introduced in the coming year.

Opal: First production camera supporting the CoaXPress standard
The flagship OPAL series of cameras is Adimec’s most versatile family, delivering unparalleled channel matching, linearity and dynamic range at resolutions between 1-8 megapixels at more than 120 FPS. It is the first production camera available to support the CoaXPress standard version 1.0, which allows it to deliver transmission performance up to 3x faster in a single coaxial cable that combines power, GPIO, commands and image data and can extend up to 140 meters. Its CoaXPress support adds to existing support of Camera Link and GigE Vision interface options.
