Robot as Positioner - Mixed Process Cell
Automation IG utilized a large-capacity material handling robot to act as a tooling positioner in this unique combination spot/mig weld cell. A stationary servo spot gun integrated with the Fanuc robot controller welds components held in place by the end of arm tooling. The part is then presented to a Motoman mig welding robot where final welds are performed. The finished part is placed onto an outgoing conveyor by the handling robot and the tool returned to the operator station.
