Different Ways to Create Multi-Axis, Multi-DOF Motion Platforms

Traditionally individual linear, rotary and goniometric axes are stacked. More modern architectures comprise of hybrid tripod and hexapod approaches. Hexapod 6-axis motion platforms are based on parallel kinematic motion. Hybrid tripods combine serial (XY motion) and parallel motion (tripod) into one low-profile 6-axis positioning system.
