Taiwan Excellence advanced technology brands draw interest from industry leaders at AUTOMATE 2025

POSTED 05/15/2025

DETROIT, May 13, 2025—This week, 15 winners of the Taiwan Excellence product innovation awards displayed their state-of-the-art technologies in industrial robotics, process optimization, artificial intelligence and precision manufacturing at AUTOMATE 2025, the global automation trade show at Huntington Place.

A product launch Monday, May 12 showcased a wide variety of Taiwanese innovated robotic products and services, including cobots, tactile technology, and precision components that enhance automation efficiency and safety.

Five companies conducted presentations in front of an audience of industry officials and media.

  • TECHMAN ROBOT develops collaborative robots with artificial intelligence and embedded visual system. Regional Sales Manager Francine Chu introduced to the audience about how the smart vision gives the robot flexibility in positioning components, counting and identifying objects, identifying defects, reading labels and QR codes, and more, capabilities that address challenges in a wide variety of industries.
  • HIWIN demonstrated DATORKER, an advanced gearbox used in robot joints and other advanced machinery. Sales Engineer Andy Grossmeier described the unique, elegant elliptical design of the gear system that creates lower speeds and increased torque, achieving higher gear ratios in a smaller space. The company also offers ball screws—its original product—motors, drives, and controllers.
  • SYNTEC Group Global Director Otis Siah demonstrated advanced LEANTEC robotics designed specifically for the CNC machining industry. The company also offers laser plasma equipment and robot control technologies. “We are robot experts who understand CNC machining and machine tending,” he said.
  • Touché Solutions demonstrated T-SKIN, an advanced sensor safety “skin” applied to the outside of robots that senses touch, stopping the robot immediately. Deputy Director Nephel Lo talked about the savings possible in safety systems around robots that stop automatically when touched.
  • TOYO ROBOT Director for the Americas Doug Kiernan demonstrated TOYO’s “Cartesian” robots, robots that operate in the three X, Y, and Z axes rather than six-axis robots. He said such robots offer significant cost savings, and can be used in a wide variety of industries, including precision positioning, moving heavy objects in the automotive industry.

In welcoming attendees to the product launch, Dennis Yen-Feng Lei, director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office of Chicago said, “With the strong and enduring partnerships between Taiwan and the U.S., Taiwan is ready to support the U.S. focus on strengthening domestic manufacturing through smart, AI-integrated robotic solutions,” He emphasized the natural connection between the Taiwanese products on display and Detroit’s longtime manufacturing legacy and leadership.
