RIA Past President Jerry Kirsch Passes Away

He was born June 22, 1932 to the late Frank and Helen Kirsch in Detroit, MI. Resident of East China, MI, formerly of Grosse Pointe Farms and Detroit. Brother to Joan (Bill) Knies and Janet (Leslie) Resseguie. Beloved husband of Kathleen Ann (nee Weot) for 55 years. Loving father of Kerry (Jody) Kirsch of Livonia, MI, Susan (H. Brooks) Miles of Hartville, OH, Karl Kirsch of Levering, MI, Kathy (William) Worsley of Midland, MI, and Julia (Daniel) Girdler of Bloomfield Village. Grandfather to Kelly (Michael) Belcher, Kathleen and Kerry J. Kirsch, Hall, William and Jackson Miles, John and Edward Fillmore, Daniel, Alec and Joseph Girdler. Great-grandfather to Addison.  Graduate of St. Paul High School. Served with the US Navy, stationed at Grosse Isle. Former owner of Erie Engineering and Auto-Place, Inc., Jerry was a pioneer in the field of robotics and received various awards including the Joseph F. Engleberger award in 1978. Recipient of over 24 techincal US and foreign patents in robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics and machine vision. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, 4061 St. Clair Hwy., East China, MI. Viewing at St. Mary's Church, 416 N. 6th St., St. Clair on Thursday, July 17th, 9 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Tuition Assistance Program.
