RIA Continues Celebration of 50th Anniversary of Robotics during National Robotics Week

ty years ago the first industrial robot was installed at a General Motors facility in New Jersey. It was a Unimate, the creation of Joe Engelberger, known throughout the world as the “father of robotics.” Today, more than one million robots are installed worldwide and robotics is seen as one of the critical technologies of the 21st Century. During the recent Automate 2011 Show in Chicago (March 21-24) RIA sponsored a special pavilion that paid tribute to 50 Years of Robotics and the industry Joe Engelberger and the early robotics leaders created.
