Pleora to Demonstrate GigE Vision over Wireless at VISION 2012
POSTED 10/08/2012
Customers of Pleora Technologies Inc. will now have an extended family of video interface options to choose from. As co-founder of the GigE Vision® standard and with more than a decade of experience, Pleora is pleased to announce that it will now offer GigE Vision over wireless. This new video interfacing option -- like all of Pleora’s offerings -- is built upon standard IT platforms, does not require a frame grabber, and is supported by a common software development kit.
Attendees at the upcoming VISION 2012 trade fair taking place in Stuttgart, Germany, from November 6-8, 2012, will be able to witness a live demonstration of an infrared camera with a GigE Vision over wireless interface. The images will be multicast from the camera to a PC running Pleora’s popular eBUS™ SDK and to a monitor via a vDisplay™ HDI-Pro IP engine.
George Chamberlain, President of Pleora, says: “Pleora customers have been interested in wireless technology for some time since there are a number of applications where wired networks are simply not practical. Now, with the IEEE 802.11n wireless standard and next year’s introduction of 802.11ac, the wireless throughput is large enough to meet the needs of high-performance applications.”
The company’s new product offering is unique to the market since, unlike wireless camera products seen in the security market, Pleora’s GigE Vision over wireless IP engine supports complex video analysis by providing lossless, low-latency video reproduction. John Phillips, Senior Product Manager at Pleora, explains: “A number of industry sectors have the same kind of installation challenges that the security industry does, but with the additional demand for lossless video transmission. An example of this is in intelligent transportation systems, where cameras are mounted on gantries high above traffic and stream uncompressed video for image analysis.”
Pleora is currently working on customer-specific offerings for its GigE Vision over wireless video interfacing technology, and will offer general purpose video interfaces, as OEM boards and Intellectual Property, in 2013.
