HESTER, NEW YORK – Navitar, a global leader in optical design and manufacturing, placed first overall in the Men’s Team division of the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge, held May 21 at the Rochester Institute of technology. This win qualifies Navitar to compete in next year’s Corporate Challenge Championship against the best corporate teams from around the world who participate in the series.

A total of 460 companies with 10,921 runners and walkers participated in this year’s 3.5-mile race sponsored by J.P. Morgan. Twenty-five Navitar employees donned fluorescent green company t-shirts with the slogan of “Navitar….Setting the Pace”.
Navitar’s top men’s team finished with a combined total time of 1:22:45. Team members were Chad Byler, Senior Optical Engineer (18:12), Matt DeRosa, Associate Mechanical Engineer (20:01), Michael Brindak, Associate Optical Engineer (20:14), and Craig Fitzgerald, VP Product and Business Development (24:18). The team beat the next best time of 1:25:07 by the University of Rochester men’s team and was excited to outpace many larger companies such as Corning, Harris RF, Xerox, and Wegman’s. Team Captain, Chad Byler, placed second overall just 0:12 behind the first place finisher, Chip O’Hara from First Niagara.
“The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is an amazing experience. We are thrilled so many employees from all departments participated this year,” commented Jeremy Goldstein, President of Navitar. “It is a huge accomplishment for our guys to take first place overall in the men’s team division. We are very proud of them and can’t wait for next year.”
Navitar employees are often seen running, walking and biking on Commerce Drive throughout the work day and many participate individually in races, both for sport and charity. The longevity of the company and its continued success stems directly from its employees. For over 40 years, Navitar has succeeded in creating a supportive, collaborative and fun environment, appealing to both new and veteran employees.
