Motoman's Compact DXM100 Controller: Ideal for Small Payload Material Handling/Palletizing Applications
POSTED 09/29/2009

The DXM100 provides patented multiple robot control capability (up to EIGHT robots with one pendant, open communication and integrated cell control). It can accommodate two optional external axis servo amplifiers for seventh and eighth axis control.
The DXM100 robot controller features a Windows® CE programming pendant with color touch screen; high-speed processing; unmatched memory (200,000 steps, 10,000 instructions); easy-to-use INFORM III programming language; a robust PC architecture; and built-in Ethernet. The DXM100 includes four levels of password protection for up to 100 individual users. A convenient compact flash slot and USB port on the pendant enables easy memory back-ups. All operator controls are located on the pendant, allowing the control cabinet to be mounted remotely. Dynamic interference spheres protect the robot arm, providing collision avoidance/arm interference prevention. Advanced Robot Motion (ARM) control provides high-performance path accuracy and vibration control. Best-in-class path planning dramatically reduces teaching time.
The DXM100 controller also offers unmatched connectivity, highly flexible fieldbus support and easy connection to an information infrastructure through standard network options for DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus-DP, EtherNet/IP and many others. An optional web server that allows remote monitoring and diagnosis is available. Dual-channel safety features include enhanced E-stop functionality, integrated speed monitoring, manual brake release for the robot.
By eliminating the need for a separate PLC, PC-based human machine interface (HMI) and separate password protection hardware, and by providing a standard Ethernet port and an onboard graphical ladder editor, the DXM100 delivers significant savings at the system level, while also decreasing system complexity and improving overall system reliability.
