Microscan’s Visionscape Smart Camera Wins Distinguished 2011 Innovation Award
POSTED 05/17/2011
Microscan, a global technology leader for barcode and machine vision products, announces that it has been awarded a 2011 EM Asia Innovation Award in the category of Identification Systems for its Visionscape® Smart Camera. The award was presented to the company during a May 12, 2011 ceremony that took place at the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center during NEPCON China 2011.
The Visionscape® Smart Camera combines a compact form factor with the broad applicability, versatility and proven performance of the Visionscape® Machine Vision Software. Designed for use in a wide range of applications, the Visionscape® smart camera provides a cost-effective, easily deployed solution for manufacturers to monitor quality, control processes, or identify and trace parts on production lines.
As a small, portable, low cost alternative to traditional AOI systems, the Visionscape® Smart Camera inspection system can be placed where it is needed, when it is needed, at a price that will fit even the most stringent of maintenance or support budgets. The system provides a totally calibrated look at problematic devices and will trigger corrective action when still affordable prior to reflow.
Microscan’s Visionscape® software is the most innovative software on the market with an extensive array of features available to inspect multiple parameters for anti-counterfeiting (ability to precisely match visuals of authentic parts, and recognize differences invisible to the naked eye for non-matching parts – i.e. shape, location, mark content, other scratched surface areas, etc.). In addition to extensive visual inspection and measurement parameters, the software provides identification and traceability of barcodes, 2D symbols and Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
Visionscape® software can provide 100 percent quality control in manufacturing, reducing costs and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. While human inspectors working on assembly lines visually inspect parts to judge the quality of workmanship, machine vision systems use cameras and image processing software to perform similar inspections.
Established in 2006, the EM Asia Innovation Awards program strives to recognize and celebrate excellence in the Asian electronics industry, inspiring companies to achieve the highest standards and push the industry forward.
