Microscan Lines Up Latest Innovations at VISION 2012

POSTED 10/08/2012

Alp
hen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands Microscan, a global technology leader in barcode, machine vision and lighting solutions will present its latest innovations in industrial machine vision at Booth # J12 in Hall 1 at the VISION 2012 trade show in Stuttgart, 6-8 November 2012.

While the VISION show kicks off for the 25th time, Microscan proudly celebrates its own 30-year history in machine vision and Auto ID at the show. With the 2008 acquisition of Siemens Machine Vision business, Microscan’s family tree includes the pioneering Auto ID line spawned by Mike Mertel as well as an equally impressive history in machine vision. Two machine vision pioneers, Automatix and iTran were founded in 1980 and 1982, respectively, and the two companies merged to form Acuity in 1994. Not long thereafter, I.D. Matrix, the developer of the Data Matrix symbology, and NERLITE, the well-known machine vision lighting company, would join Acuity under the RVSI, and later, Siemens, brand. Major milestones in Microscan’s machine vision history therefore include the invention of the first personal computer-based machine vision system and the industry standard 2D code, Data Matrix.

One of the centerpieces at the booth is the enhanced Vision MINI smart camera which is a candidate to receive the Vision Award this year. The Vision Award, a prize for applied image processing, will be presented for the 20th time at the VISION 2012 show. With the extremely compact, lightweight and durable Vision MINI smart camera, OEM design engineers can quickly implement robust inspection, color matching, symbol decoding, OCR and more in a single compact vision solution. The Vision MINI smart camera series now also includes a WVGA model for high speed applications.

Together with the updated AutoVISION machine vision software, the Vision MINI provides a powerful and intuitive vision solution with an easy-to-use interface for selecting cameras, delivering an image, selecting and parameterizing tools and monitoring a running application. The AutoVISION software can also be teamed up with Microscan’s new Vision HAWK industrial smart camera with 2 megapixel C-mount option.

Microscan will also display its NERLITE® machine vision lighting solutions, including the new Pharmalite at Vision 2012. The Pharmalite is a lighting accessory for direct mounting to Microscan imagers, smart cameras, and GigE cameras. For more information on these products, visit Microscan at VISION 2012 in Stuttgart at Booth #J12 in Hall 1, or online.
