Marisa Edmund Earns Industry Recognition as Direct Marketer of the Year

Receives "Target Marketing" magazine's 2012 Direct Marketer of the Year Award

Marissa Edmund of Edmund Ooptics Receives Target Marketing Magazine's 2012 Direct Marketer of the Year AwardMarisa Edmund, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Edmund Optics, has been named the recipient of the 2012 Direct Marketer Award by Target Marketing magazine. The magazine's award is based on having a long, exemplary direct marketing career filled with innovative ideas and service to the direct marketing community.
"I am thrilled to receive this award," said Marisa Edmund. "With all the new technologies available, this has become an immensely exciting time to be involved in marketing and I love thinking outside the box! I hope that I can inspire others to explore alternatives to traditional marketing and reach out to their customers in new and innovative ways."

Leading the Way
Ms. Edmund, the powerhouse behind the successful EO marketing team, has led the 70 year old family-owned business on a highly professional and successful journey of marketing optical components to engineers in biotech, energy, government and industrial research and development, manufacturing, photonics and testing, university labs and more! Marketing to a rapidly growing, global B-2-B industry is no small feat; it is a challenge that Ms. Edmund has accepted with enthusiasm, dedication and a fierce determination to not only succeed but to thrive.
She steps outside the boundaries of typical marketing strategies within the industry, injecting humor and eye-catching graphics into EO's campaigns, and utilizing Edmund Optics' engineers to become the voice of the company. She initiated and spearheaded the development of cutting-edge marketing strategy including the company's website, a massive social media outreach, a novel approach to print campaigns, and the evolution of EO's mainstay, their world class catalog, in multiple languages.

Ms. Edmund graduated from Georgetown University-McDonough School of Business, earned her master's degree in business studies from Stockton College (New Jersey), studied international marketing at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and received the International Marketing Award from McDonough School of Business. Her official career began at Edmund Optics in 1998 in the Human Resources department. She served on the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) Board of Trustees, and will be chairwoman of the SPIE Exhibitor Committee.
