POSTED 02/08/2010
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. February 8, 2010 – KMT Robotic Solutions, Inc.
KMT Robotic Solutions, Inc. and EINA Estudios de Ingeniería Adaptada, S.L., today announced their alliance that will offer comprehensive post-mold automation solutions for Wind Turbine Blade manufacturers. These solutions will combine KMT’s robotic root cutting, drilling and edge trimming technologies with EINA’s robotic surface finishing and quality inspection technologies. Each company has patented or patent-pending technologies that make using robots for wind turbine blade post-mold processing the right answer for wind turbine blade manufacturers looking to expand capacity, handle product change over, overcome ergonomic concerns, and produce the highest quality blades.
In addition, this alliance provides more comprehensive worldwide customer support coverage of all these technologies with KMT’s presence in North America, South America, Asia and northern Europe and EINA’s coverage of southern Europe. “Many of the wind turbine blade manufacturers that we are working with have plants all over the world”, said KMT Robotic Solutions President Kevin McManus. “They require quick response times regardless of where their plants are located. We have heard of situations at our wind turbine blade customers where a supplier located in a different continent took many days or even weeks to respond to critical support requests. By combining our resources, EINA and KMT are better able to provide much quicker response time than companies that only have a presence in one region.”
“Our wind turbine blade customers find it difficult to work with so many suppliers each focused on one piece of equipment for a specific requirement”, said EINA General Manager Jorge Castillo Rodríguez. “They prefer a solution partner that has a broader automation background that can work with them to determine what automation makes the most sense and then implement the best solution. KMT and EINA each have technologies and expertise that compliment each other and allow us each to offer a more complete solution. As systems integrators we are both in a unique position to work with other suppliers or to develop new solutions so that we are not forced into using a technology that is not a good fit.”
“KMT and EINA have been cooperating on robotic automation systems since 1994”, said Mr. McManus. “This alliance in support of the Wind Turbine Blade industry is an extension of our previous proven cooperation. Our ability to deliver these industry leading technologies and perform as a seamless virtual company will offer great benefit to the Wind Turbine industry.”
