Iowa Governor Terry Branstad visits Ellison Technologies Automation

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – To view the recent advancements in industry and robotics education, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad paid Ellison Technologies Automation a visit to get a first-hand look.

Governor' Visit Highlights Advancements in Robotics, Education in IowaThe two-hour-long visit by Governor Branstad was highlighted by a tour of the facility’s robots and operations, which included an up close and personal view of the world’s largest and strongest all electric servo robot, the FANUC Robotics M-2000iA/1200 robot, a machine that has a payload of up to 3,000 lbs.

“It was great to share our industrial vision with Governor Branstad and it also allowed us to showcase the work that our dedicated team of engineers does to help American businesses compete and win globally,” says John Burg, President of Ellison Technologies Automation.

Governor Branstad’s initial interest for a visit to the facility was sparked due to Ellison Technologies Automation’s involvement with Real World Externship program for Math and Science Teachers for its third year in 2013. At the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council meeting in January, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds and Greg Olenick, VP & General Manager of Ellison Technologies Automation, discussed the newly developed Robotics/Automated Systems Technology program at Iowa Western Community College and the role Ellison Technologies Automation will play in the program. Offering education, facilities and training to students, the experienced team of engineers at Ellison Technologies Automation will be participating in the teaching of the latest advancements in robotics.

“Ellison Technologies Automation is always developing and producing the latest in robotics and sharing this knowledge and skill set with students is an exciting opportunity,” says Burg.
