Family Donation to WOW Science Camp Honors Legacy of Norman Edmund
Dr. James Husted and Joan Edmund Husted have made a gift of $50,000 in honor of the late Norman W. Edmund. Mr. Edmund was the founder of the company now known as Edmund Optics
which is based in Barrington, NJ. WOW Science Camp is the recipient of this gift.
WOW is a non-profit organization working to cultivate and promote children's interest in science. Executive Director Fola Adebi, her staff, 80 science campers and their families extended their thanks to the Husted family at the camp's closing ceremonies. Ms. Adebi explained that this donation will make it possible for more children to experience the wonders of science and learn important life skills.
Ms. Adebi and her husband, Peter, told the campers about Norman Edmund's inspirational life and his family's interest in WOW.
Joan and her son, Alex Edmund Husted, told the campers about Mr. Edmund's love of Camden County, his rapport with children and his continuing interest in science education. "Remembering these things about my father made WOW Science Camp seem like the perfect place to make a donation in his memory" recalled Joan.
Through field trips and hands-on experiments, campers discover that science is an integral part of everyday life, and that science education can lead to many exciting careers. Learn more about WOW Science Camp at www.wowsciencecamp.org
