BitFlow, the machine vision industry's premier manufacturer of frame grabbers, announced today that its Cyton™ and Karbon™ CXP CoaxPress frame grabbers are fully compatible with the new NorPix StreamPix™ high-speed recording station, one of the world's first recorders to rely on the CoaXPress interface. Able to record 2.6 Gigabits per second direct to disk, StreamPix is engineered for specialized use in motion analysis and tracking, medical imaging and research, life science research, industrial trouble shooting, and military applications.

"StreamPix stations are finely tuned to capture high-resolution, uncompressed video over extended  periods of time at speeds of 1000 frames-per-second or faster from multiple cameras simultaneously," said Luc Nocente, President of NorPix, Inc.  "BitFlow's Cyton and Karbon CXP frame grabbers provide the ideal host for StreamPix's demanding requirements, allowing us to fully leverage the power of the CoaXPress interface."

CoaXPress is a digital interface specification for the transmission of high-speed data, 13W of power and a 20 Mb per second uplink over a low-cost 75 Ohm coaxial cable.  BitFlow has played a leading role in expanding its commercial acceptance, explained Donal Waide, Director of Sales for BitFlow: "As a company, BitFlow is proud to have worked to build the strong ecosystem of support now available for CoaXPress. As a result, developers like NorPix have more options for their high-speed systems, even over distances up to 100 meters."

BitFlow Karbon-CXP frame grabbers are CoaXPress 1.0 compliant, and support anywhere from one to four CXP cameras and up to four CXP multi-links. Cyton™ frame grabbers incorporates the Gen 2.0 x8 PCI Express bus interface on its back-end, an advancement that doubles the data rate of the Gen 1.0 bus for the ultimate high-speed access to host memory in multi-camera systems, while using the same compact footprint and connectors.
