Cincoze DS-1202 Speeds Automated Optical Inspection for Improved Production Efficiency
One of the most significant trends of Industry 4.0 and smart factories is the rapid automation of visual inspection. Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems combine hardware and software, including image sensors (cameras) to collect the visual data and illumination settings, and processing software that runs an inspection algorithm to classify objects into normal and abnormal ones based on the set parameters. The benefits include non-contact, fast speed, high accuracy, and lower operating costs. It solves many of the issues and inefficiencies traditional manual inspection faces in manufacturing quality control.
AOI is most often used during electronics production, such as wafers, LCD panel displays, and printed circuit boards. Now accelerated demand is leading to adoption in other applications, such as space exploration, aviation, biomedicine, medical, and solar energy.
One of Cincoze’s customers, a leading electronics manufacturer, required an AOI system to detect military rugged laptops' appearance, screws, labels, and hole positions. Inside the system, the catch-on-fly approach is used to shoot at high speed without displacement and enables high-speed image processing. Cincoze selected the DS-1202 embedded computer integrated with NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1050 GPU as the core platform for the AOI system.
An industrial computer with high computing power is required for this AOI system to process images and signals quickly and accurately at the edge, providing fast and precise vision inspection. Our customers can achieve the goal of quality control and achieve great operational efficiency.
CPU power alone is often insufficient for processing complex algorithms. To achieve fast machine vision analysis, a GPU with an architecture of many parallel cores is needed to efficiently process images. Therefore, the computer needs to add a GPU expansion card through the PCIe interface.
Abundance of I/O
The industrial computer needs to possess a range of I/O connections to connect peripherals and devices including cameras, lighting, LED indicator, and display. Therefore, multiple USB, COM, LAN, and DIO are necessary. Wireless networking connectivity is also required to upload the inspection results to the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for recording and evaluation.

The outstanding system design makes the DS-1202 highly adaptable in harsh industrial environments.
Rich I/O and Modular Expandability
The DS-1202 includes highly integrated I/O interfaces, such as 2x GbE ports, 8x USB ports, 1x DVI-I, 2x DisplayPort, 2x RS-232/422/485 ports, and 1x M.2 slot supporting PCIe x4 NVMe SSD. Additional I/O and function expansion are available through Cincoze’s CMI & CFM expansion modules with GbE LAN/PoE ports and power ignition sensing, or with 3x full-size Mini PCI Express slots for wireless connectivity or other expansion. Moreover, DS-1202 is available with two PCI/PCIe expansion slots to accommodate versatile add-on cards, while the DS-1201 provides one PCI/PCIe slot and DS-1200 provides zero PCI expansion.
