IKO's Outside Sales Representatives act as primary contacts for existing customers, and are responsible for overall account servicing, maintenance, retention, business growth and expansion, and ensuring satisfaction of their assigned existing customers, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), End Users, and Distributors. While developing these customers and distributors as stable accounts for IKO, outside sales representatives also are responsible for sourcing and developing new business (new customers) as well as assisting IKO's Inside Sales staff when needed.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Performs account management functions to achieve sales quotas and account objectives, and develops and executes account retention strategies of the company while performing marketing and new business development activities.

  • Proactively develops new business opportunities in the assigned areas of the sales territory
  • Manages and grows business at existing accounts
  • Builds and maintains sustainable relationships with key personnel in each of the assigned customers through periodical contacts by phone, email or in-person visits
  • Assists Inside Sales Staff, as needed
  • Establishes sufficient and periodical onsite presence to be known by key decision makers of customers and distributors
  • Secures opportunities to quote on customer requirements and follows up on quotations submitted to customers
  • Sales Reporting/Internal Administration
  • Prepares periodical reports on customers' needs, problems, interests, and competitor activities
  • Sales Inquiries/Quotations Administration
  • Utilizes CRM program to track customer details, touchpoints and follow-ups
  • Inventory Control
  • Participates in marketing activities
  • Attends industry trade shows and assists with annual company inventory, as needed
  • Travel throughout the territory, as needed, for visits to customers and distributors, trade shows, sales meetings, and any other required meetings

Minimum Skills & Abilities

  • Technical expertise: Sufficient technical knowledge of IKO products and equipment
  • Results driven: Proactive and results-oriented; able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Problem solving: Demonstrated ability to determine solutions for clients (consultative sales approach)
  • Relationship building: Well-developed ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills (both oral and written) with the ability to interact at all levels of an organization with sensitivity to cultural diversity
  • Computer proficiency: Intermediate level use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; CRM and SAP experience a plus
  • Certificates & Licenses: Valid driver’s license required

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of sales experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Industrial sales experience a plus
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English
  • Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available
  • Work may require standing, walking, grasping, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds
  • Work requires frequent domestic business travel
  • May be required to work beyond normal business hours as required by the Company
