Description

We are seeking an Application Engineer in IKO's Midwest Office who will help sell complex and technological products or services to IKO customers or end users and help get those products or services to work successfully. Our engineers work closely with sales employees and customers at all levels, and must have extensive knowledge of products’ parts and functions, and understanding of the scientific processes that make these products work.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Help customers choose proper products to use, with supporting data and technical evidence
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products and services to customers and prospects
  • Prepare product-related documents or information that customers require
  • Confer with customers and engineers to assess and determine requirements
  • Collaborate with sales teams to mutually understand customers’ requirements and provide support activities
  • Plan, modify products, and design or make custom products that meet customer needs, including purchasing components and outsourced modification
  • Set up actuators/mechatronics products for shipping and testing
  • Secure and renew orders and arrange deliveries
  • Help customers solve problems they have on their applications
  • Help to research and develop new products
  • May be asked to take on other projects, assignments, and/or tasks in accordance with business demands

Products: Linear Bearings, Rotation Bearings, Mechatronic/Actuators.

Minimum Skills & Abilities

  • This is an in-office position that requires the ability to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers on a daily basis
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory is expected for trade show set up and attendance, sales meetings, and onsite meetings with customers and prospects
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, even with frequent interruptions, to meet the needs and requests of fellow employees, supervisors and customers
  • Lifting of lightweight supplies and materials may be needed from time to time 

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or similar in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on work experience
  • Must be comfortable speaking English with internal employees and external customers
  • Must possess sensitivity to cultural diversity
