JOB SUMMARY

Work directly with senior designers and engineering team to convert system design concepts into specific layouts and detailed engineering drawings. Utilizing fundamental mechanical engineering principles, theories and techniques including mechanical, and pneumatics by interpreting information set forth in basis of design as well as information gathered from clients, vendors, and research.

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research components and work with vendors to obtain quotes and specifications for parts, equipment, and delivery requirements.
  • Complete working designs of automated conveyor systems, assemblies, and other equipment using CAD software in compliance with engineering theory and principles, per Adaptec standards and customer specifications.
  • Work with Operations and Project Manager to deliver project within budgetary requirements
  • Travel to job site to perform site audit, review concepts with customer and support the sales team.
  • Assist in completing designs of new company product and automation concepts.
  • Perform calculations and simulations including moment loads, tool weights, conveyance product rate sortation.
  • Create mechanical assembly and detail designs for automated systems including, but not limited to, robotics and material handling.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams to develop a complete integrated solution.
  • Develop bill of materials from drawing packages.
  • Participate in system risk assessments (e.g. safety, process risk assessment)
  • Resolve design and build problems that may arise during construction.
  • Perform engineering analyses and calculations to size system components and equipment in adherence to client specifications, applicable industry standards.
  • Document theory of operation for designed systems.
  • Recommend new technologies for solving technical challenges.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies relating to automated systems.
  • Continue to develop a broad base of engineering skills in support of overall organizational growth.
  • Assist in completing designs of new company product and automation concepts.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as requested to support service operations and staff.
  • Assume the duties of a project Technical Lead upon request.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required.

 

SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB:

  • Software Applications Required
    • Autodesk Inventor
    • AutoCAD 3D
    • Microsoft 365
  • Software Applications Desired
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems design and documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable to work independently and as a team.
  • Including ability to set and manage multiple priorities, and to set and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and data files.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to interact with diverse internal and external groups.

  • Palletizing
  • Skill in engineering design, drafting, and computer aided design and drafting software, and project management software.
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, and schematics.
  • Demonstrates organizational and project management skills, including ability to set and manage multiple priorities, and to set and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform site surveys for potential and ongoing projects
  • Ability to read a tape measure and other field measurement devices
  • Ability to read installation draws and mark out system and datum points at customer facility
