Purpose and Scope - Manage Bearing ART’s automation business development from strategy development through prospect searches and to sales implementation.  This person will take ownership of the automation business for ILJIN USA and cover customers in North and South America.  Responsibilities include prospecting, sales contact, developing strategies to win the business, build strong relationships with customer engineers and purchasing teams.  This person will also manage the marketing of new automation products to customers.  This role will work closely with our R&D facility in Frankfurt, Germany and our HQ in Seoul, South Korea.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy to achieve annual PO and Sales plan
  • Prospect potential customers in North and South America
  • Develop strong relationships with customer engineers and purchasing teams
  • Manage customer inquiries and develop strategies to win the PO
  • Develop market trends and competitive analysis
  • Expand ILJIN’s influence to customer quality, plant level contacts, technical support, and purchasing teams
  • Communicate customer needs to the ILJIN headquarters and drive the implementation to the customers’ satisfaction
  • Lead commercial negotiations and technical discussions with customers
  • Develop marketing ideas and solutions for product promotions with assistance from the Senior Manager of New Business Development
  • Report sales and market activity to management
  • Assist other regions and divisions reach their goals with good communication
  • Work alongside application engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and HQ
  • Complete any special project given by the Executive Director

Minimum Education & Experience

  1. Education and Training
    1. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
    2. Minimum 10 years sales & engineering experience in actuator technology
  2. Technical Requirements
    1. Expert in Robot/Cobot applications and performance with an emphasis on joint gears, strain wave gears, and actuation
    2. Understand, recommend, implement, and supply actuation solutions to customers
    3. Solid connections throughout the Robot/Cobot industry with emphasis on customers’ decision makers
    4. Driven to successfully convert prospects into customers
    5. Expert in sales and negotiation skills with a solid base in outstanding customer support
    6. Expert in Microsoft Office applications to enhance communication with customers and the company
  3. Managerial Experience
    1. Work in a fast-paced team environment to ensure that all strategies are implemented in a consistent and cohesive manner and support the team’s direction
    2. Outstanding communication skills with customers to promote ideas and support ILJIN’s image as a technical leader
    3. Able to adapt and assimilate to Korean culture so they are comfortable working with you
