Responsible for mechanical and electrical assembly, software & control integration, testing, installation, and commissioning of customer systems, the Field Service Engineer will be the face of the company for all interactions involving installation and field testing of systems. This person will also be the first-order point of contact for handling customer requests for assistance and support following installation. Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound/outbound materials and paperwork
  • Inventory management and supplies maintenance
  • Interpret or make modifications to drawings in Solidworks or other CAD programs
  • Interpret, understand, update electrical wiring diagrams
  • Participate in customer project design reviews and other meetings as required
  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components as directed
  • Run electrical wiring on new assembled systems in accordance with wiring diagram
  • Integrate and utilize a variety of software programs to run and test customer systems
  • Program and integrate PLCs, robots, safety circuits into overall system designs
  • Run systems, debug and troubleshoot custom software applications and system assemblies
  • Create, modify and implement PLC programs for system assemblies
  • Modify vision inspection tools for optimal performance
  • Coordinate and direct activity to remediate issues, including interaction with suppliers and contractors
  • Direct the activity of technicians as team lead, to assist with and complete required tasks
  • Interact and serve as a liaison with key customer personnel
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing of systems with customers
  • Prepare systems for shipment including crating
  • Install, integrate and commission equipment and systems on-site at customer facilities
  • Participate in on-site system acceptance testing with customers and troubleshoot and correct issues
  • Prepare documentation for installed systems, conduct basic training with customer personnel
  • Maintain the design archive and database in accordance with standard company procedures
  • Conduct remote or on-site post-installation customer support and maintenance
  • General shop maintenance

  • Be willing to travel: Estimated at 20-50%

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Associates Degree in a technical field, or equivalent work experience
  • Exceptional hands-on skills, especially working with hand tools
  • Experience with electronics, PLS’s, & wiring
  • Basic vision inspection experience
  • Experience with computers and Microsoft Office applications
