You will be part of the Global Digital organization within Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Materials and Structural Analysis R&D organization that is committed to bringing game changing software solutions to our customers to help them achieve success. With your passion for software design, dedication to quality, and pragmatic approach to problem solving, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop successful software solutions for the semiconductor business unit
Major Duties & Responsibilities
What will you do?
• Develop instrument control software for controlling the next generation of electron microscopes that are key to helping our semiconductor customers tackle their most meaningful problems more optimally
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from inception to completion including requirements analysis, specification, design, implementation, and testing
Minimum Skills & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Knowledge of capital equipment manufacturing, electron microscopy, or semiconductor industries a plus
• Subject area, pride, and integrity to write clean, unit-testable code
• Able to comprehend complex data and use it to tackle issues
• Solid proficiency in software-engineering practices such as requirements, design, agile processes, unit-testing, etc.
• Excellent analytical and empirical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Able to travel internationally/domestically
Minimum Education & Experience
Education
BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline
Experience
• 5+ years of experience with writing SW for controlling hardware
• In-depth understanding of C++
• Hands-on experience with Object Oriented Design, State Modeling, and Test Driven Development
• Proficiency with Microsoft Visual Studio IDE and .NET technologies
• Experience with micro-services architecture patterns
• Experience with Git, GitLab, Jira, Jama
