Description
Wauseon Machine’s Automation Division designs and builds custom automation and robotic systems for the medical, automotive, consumable, and consumer goods manufacturing industries. These systems include, but are not limited to, assembly, dispensing, machine tending, material handling, and palletizing.
The Robotic Engineering Manager will be the functional leader of our Robotic and PLC Controls Engineering team. The team consists of approximately 12 Engineers who are responsible for programming PLCs, HMIs, and MiR AMR and Fanuc robotics systems.
Core Responsibilities:
- Approximately 50% direct software programming on active projects and 50% departmental leadership.
- Accountability for continuous improvement, resource planning, electrical project labor and material budgets, and leading subordinates from concept through the final machine acceptance phases.
- Accountability for project execution performance metrics (i.e., schedule, budget, scope, risk, and customer satisfaction) of software designs.
- This includes final documentation of both hardware and PLC and HMI programming for custom machine and robot integration projects, per customer specifications/requirements.
- Provide leadership and guidance for both internal and external electrical concept and final design reviews.
- Travel to customer sites for installation and start-up support of custom machinery and automation.
Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field. Preferred degree is BSEE.
- Minimum 8-years’ experience in custom automation integration.
- Project and team leadership/management.
- Industrial networking including Ethernet/IP, Control Net, and Device Net.
- PLC and HMI programming, Fanuc robot programming, safety circuits, vision systems, lasers, conveyor systems, assembly systems, fluid power, and robot systems integration.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
- Excellent customer communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
