Description

IAM Robotics is looking for an exceptional leader to join our Product Management organization. In this new role, you will have responsibility for IAM’s newest addition to its robot family, a product that hasn’t yet been publicly announced.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to lead and mentor teams of direct and indirect reports, as well as be skilled at engaging closely with the Engineering and Operations teams to inform decisions that balance timing, cost, features, and performance while staying true to the product strategy and vision.


For the right candidate, there will also be a career development path to a Director/VP role with greater leadership responsibility in the future. 

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Translate the market and our customers’ needs into clearly defined technical requirements backed by data and comprehensive industry knowledge
  • Evaluate the market opportunities, define the product roadmap, and launch/roll-out strategy to scale our solutions
  • Develop positioning strategies and drive internal alignment on the requirements of timelines, specifications, and cost
  • Assess competitive advantages and recommend techniques and product enhancements to increase market penetration
  • Serve as a cross-functional liaison that bridges engineering, business, operations, and regulatory considerations to drive product decisions/ measure our success and improve our products using principled methods and metrics
  • Find innovative ways to accelerate our development, reduce risk, and improve the overall product experience; work with the company to implement these initiatives and fully realize them
  • Develop high-quality content for marketing and sales enablement, including external-facing presentations, customer case studies, and internal-facing assets such as references, product brochures, and sales training materials
  • Amplify value proposition and propose value-selling solutions for products based on differentiation, competitive edge, and data-oriented results.  Develop messaging and positioning for our products to grow our Serviceable Available Market (SAM)
  • Have a highly-focused and strong task-orientated mindset with your cross-functional product team to keep projects on track
  • Participate in the development and execution of business plans based on corporate objectives
  • Manage product budgets and control expenses effectively

KEY 6-MONTH DELIVERABLES

  • Build rapport with direct and indirect reports in your cross-functional product team from across the organization
  • Build an understanding of your product and target market
  • Develop a solid working relationship with the lead customers for your product, and establish your credibility as the product leader they can count on to succeed

KEY 12-MONTH DELIVERABLES

  • Deliver the first revision of your product to your first customer deployment
  • Expand the existing high-level roadmap for your product into a comprehensive set of cost reduction initiatives and performance improvements that you will map into a detailed set of hardware and software delivery plans.

KEY CHALLENGES YOU WILL NAVIGATE

  • Establishing new processes in a startup environment from scratch
  • Establishing group "buy-in" to your leadership, and trust in your knowledge of the market for your product
  • Managing a cross-functional product team consisting of key contributors from every organization in the company

Minimum Skills & Abilities

  • Experience in manufacturing, automation, industrial technology highly favorable
  • Experience with electromechanical systems and embedded firmware
  • Strong track record of successful product launches, from inception to execution to results
  • Experience building, leading, and growing high-performing marketing teams highly preferable
  • Experience in managing products, product roadmaps, market requirement specifications, and product positioning strategies
  • Experience managing and developing new marketing programs with clear data-driven results.
  • Experience from start-up or growth company environments preferred
  • Strong product management and program management mindset
  • Strong leadership, scheduling, time-management, and mentoring skills
  • Concise communicator
  • Outstanding team-building skills with the ability to improve interaction and efficiency as well as the ability to break down barriers and silos 
  • Ability to interact with multiple departments on cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to influence and negotiate at all levels of the organization, with well-documented successful outcomes. Excellent attention to detail, without losing the big picture
  • Proven ability to tie strategic thinking to operational execution 
  • Strong communication, collaboration, presentation, and interpersonal skills – ability to operate effectively at all levels of the organization, internally and with third-party partner relationships externally

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering degree preferred). Business qualification e.g. MBA, or another advanced degree highly desirable
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible and diversified business experience in development engineering, industrial engineering, technical sales, product marketing or product management.
