We're looking for a Sr. Process Engineer to provide expert technical and engineering support for Crane’s raw materials pulping and paper mill operations who will be charged with ensuring that processes are consistently capable of meeting customer requirements; analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues that cause misses in safety, quality, delivery, and cost; driving continuous improvement to meet performance metrics; analyzing and validating new equipment and process technology; and collaborating with a strong, capable team of process engineers.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support the pulping and/or paper manufacturing processes as the key technical resource with active day-to-day involvement.  Act as the point person to marshal resources directed at problem-solving, troubleshooting, and optimization activities both internally and for customer support
  • Develop deep technical expertise around specialized processes and applications for raw materials pulping, stock preparation, broke handling, paper making, security features, process control, inspection technology, and data systems
  • Support the execution of reliable and safe manufacturing systems while helping to improve production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers
  • Develop standard work for manufacturing operations and maintain control plans

Minimum Skills & Abilities

  • Proven leadership abilities with direct teams as well as cross-functional teams & ability to influence others to drive progress
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, & troubleshooting abilities
  • Demonstrated capability to manage projects to completion
  • Strong communication, facilitation, & teamwork abilities
  • Certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt preferred
  • Knowledge of quality testing procedures relevant to intermediate process testing and final product quality
  • Experience working on projects and processes to develop systems
  • Motivated and results oriented
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment; able to participate in several projects at once
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Relevant Undergraduate degree in Engineering/ Science, preferably in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Engineering or Technology
  • Minimum Five years of industrial, technical experience in process engineering for a continuous manufacturing process
  • Pulp- and/or paper-making industry experience is highly desirable
