A Brief Introduction to the Industrial Robotics Market
The robotics market is large and complex, and growing faster than ever before. Robotic technology is widely adopted in the industrial sector and is only expected to grow in popularity as robots become more sophisticated and useful.
There’s so much going on in this industry it can be difficult to keep up. This blog serves as a quick guide to the current state of the industry, who the major players are and where robots are currently being used.
The Current State of the Industrial Robotics Market
Right now, the robotic market is growing rapidly and many predict this to continue at an exponential rate. In 2016, overall robot orders were up 10% from 2015. In the fourth quarter of 2016 alone, orders went up 18% compared to the previous year. Some specific applications saw incredible growth in robot orders, such as assembly applications, where orders were up 61% from the previous year.
This growth is mainly due to the increasing productivity gains that robots create, as well as the long-term ROI they consistently provide.
Who are the Major Players in the Industrial Robotics Market?
There are tons of companies that manufacture robots intended for use in the industrial sector. It would be impossible to list them all, but some of the major players include:
- Denso Robotics
- And, many, many more
These companies manufacture robots. Robot integrators are slowly growing in popularity as robotic applications are becoming more common. A robot integrator is a company that actually assembles and integrates a robot system for an industrial client.
Where are Industrial Robots Being Used?
Many industrial sectors are finding automation success through robotics. However, automotive manufacturers are far and away the biggest adopters of robotic technology. The first industrial robot found a home in the automotive sector, and since then, automotive companies have relied heavily on robotics – mostly for safety and productivity purposes.
Other industrial manufacturers that use robotics include:
- Rubber and plastic
- Food and beverage
- Pharmaceutical and cosmetics
There are certainly other industries that leverage the benefits of robotic technology, but these are some of the largest users in the current marketplace.
The robotics market is complicated. It’s evolved quickly and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. This guide shows the basics of the robotic market.
